Mrs Steck Dies After Busy Life in Washington
Mrs H F Steck aged 80 died peacefully after a week in bed at Iowa City with daughter Mary Sproatt’s family. Funeral at L A Jones Friday 4 pm with Rev D Chalmers Fulton officiating. interment Elm Grove cemetery. A longtime Washington resident, she was a capable businesswoman and devoted mother involved in church and community work. She was born February 9, 1852, and leaves six children, five grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends. Her memory endures in the town she loved.

Burglary at Fletcher Motor Company in Crawfordsville
In Crawfordsville May 25About 250 dollars worth of tires batteries and a typewriter were stolen from the Fletcher Motor company garage. The thieves got stuck in mud east of the schoolhouse and returned for a shovel to dig out leaving it by the road. A car went south and an entry was made by boring a hole in the door lock. Suspects with a car at the lot yesterday may be recognized.
