A four ton granite boulder memorializing forty Washington county World War dead was dedicated at Elm Grove cemetery in a 3 PM ceremony led by the American Legion Auxiliary Leon Beatty post. About 600 attended as names were read and the inscription praised the fallen heroes.

Funeral of Mrs Dan Aughey Here
The death of Mrs D L Aughey was reported by her brother Lyman Bunce. She died this morning at her son Clarence Aughey home in Austin Minnesota. The body will be brought to Washington for burial with funeral services Tuesday afternoon at 4 o clock at I A Jones funeral home. Burial will be in Elm Grove cemetery. Mrs Aughey was born in Canada and lived in Washington for many years after marriage. She was 80. The Rughey home stood on East Washington street where the Washington Oil company station now stands.

Fry Escapes Injury In Auto Train Collision
John Fry of Letts escaped injury when his Ford coupe wrecked at a Rock Island crossing west of Ainsworth station as No. 60 passenger car from the west arrived. Train No. 29 from the east stood at the station. Fry apparently failed to notice its approach while watching the westbound train. The crossing serves road No. 2 into Ainsworth.
