Large crowd attends Izaak Walton Fish Day outing
Fifty-one adults and children from the Development Center and Trainable School in Washington joined 31 children from the Iowa City Children's Hospital for the annual Fish Day at Schoonover's Pond. Prizes were awarded for first fish, largest fish, smallest fish, most fish, and a turtle hooked. The event, sponsored by Chicagua Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, benefited from numerous donations and volunteers.

Serious injuries in rural Washington crash Monday
A 60 year old Ainsworth woman Lucille E Horn is listed in critical condition at University Hospitals Iowa City after a two vehicle crash six miles northeast of Washington on Riverside Road W 61 at 10 45 am Monday. The 1972 Rambler she drove and a 1973 Mack truck from West Trucking collided causing left doors to be torn off. Charges pending. Also Monday 29 year old Terry L Ellis was injured in a van motorcycle collision in the 300 block of East Washington and taken to Washington County Hospital. The van driver Helen S Breese 71 was charged with making an improper left turn.
