Cedar Rapids resident James Paul Rusk aged 2 died after consuming a quantity of laxative pills. Coroner B L Knight of Linn county ruled the death an accident in his official finding.
Mrs Alice Stotts, a widow in Des Moines, lay in bed after a broken hip when a sneak thief looted her home of 139 dollars in cash and silverware. Police investigate the daytime burglary and seek suspects.
Raymond Randall, 18, sustained a hip injury after riding a bicycle and colliding with a parked car. The impact occurred when the bicycle hit the car door handle.
Dr Farr McCracken, assistant professor of physics at Iowa State College, is appointed head of the physics department at Teachers College, Columbia University. McCracken has 15 years on the Iowa State staff and earned a B S from Drake University.
An unidentified fisherman in Cedar Rapids tangled his line with a passing car as he prepared to cast into the river. The snag trapped the motorist, causing a brief traffic hold up while the line was unwound.
Mark Murray led a team including Carl Funk and Robert Shipley to land the biggest fish in Lake Sunapee at the Country Club. The buffalo weighed 35 pounds and was among six large fish sighted in shallow water, though the others eluded capture.
Dubuque votes 65 0 to return to central standard time after three weeks as the sole Iowa city on daylight saving time. Officials say daylight time harmed business and caused wide spread dissatisfaction and confusion.

The Burlington student is skilled in tap, toe and acrobatic dancing and received heartfelt congratulations from friends.
Waterloo Iowa Fullerton Dubuque suffered possible rib fractures and chest bruises when his motorcycle toppled after driving through a burning six by six wooden building as a feature of a Waterloo show. He was unconscious but doctors said injuries were not serious.
The article notes that Lineville's 158 Methodists, long divided by slavery, now vote to unite nationally. South and north Methodists, plus a third faction, the Methodist Protestant church, plan merger into a single Methodist church.

Mr and Mrs George Zeck north of Washington entertained at a two course Sunday noon dinner attended by Mr and Mrs Charles Wolf and daughter Esther of Ainsway and Mr and Mrs James Zeck of Washington.
John Killian accompanied the high school band to Minneapolis and captured many pictures. The Journal’s expert picture developer worked until daylight preparing plates for engraving and a selection was sent to the Cedar Rapids engraving plant at six this morning to be cut for display in the paper.
Weekend war tension in Europe eased but Czechoslovakia refused to withdraw emergency troops. Prague reported a Benes victory in yesterday's election while Sudeten Germans under Conrad Heinlein grew stronger. London and Paris were said to have averted a German invasion with diplomatic effort. Berlin stated Hitler consulted with military advisors as German news agency claimed Czechoslovak troops sought to enter German territory.
Memorial day program at St James school features songs recitations and plays across grades from primary to eighth. Students perform What the Flag Saves One Hero Our Loved Heroes and In Flanders Fields among selections with I Salute Thee Old Glory and The Star Spangled Banner.
The nomination of Charles Arthur Sprague for Oregon governor highlights the Sprague family’s former ties to Columbus Junction. Sprague, a Salem publisher and son of Charles and Alice Glasgow Sprague, previously operated an elevator business there with J A Sprague before selling it.
