Bank door theft tied to stranger jostling Des Moines official
Des Moines resident O Van Horn of Runnells reported $800 disappeared from his inner coat pocket while passing through a revolving door at the Iowa Des Moines National Bank and Trust Co. He said a stranger brushed against him in the same door compartment, and the package vanished as he exited. Van Horn manages the Harford-Carlisle Savings Bank in Runnells.

Gypsies Held Over Money Doubling Scheme in Waterloo
Three Gypsies from Los Angeles were held on a charge of obtaining five dollars in a money doubling scheme. Mrs. Bertha Adam of Waterloo reported that the group doubled fifty cents for her at a local carnival and later persuaded her to obtain fifty dollars to double. They collected the money, then telephoned to claim success and asked for more. A police trap captured the trio.

Band Program Tonight at Casefield
Washington residents are invited to a high school marching band program at Casefield tonight at seven. The band, already rated highly superior at Minneapolis last Saturday, will perform drills from the contest plus additional pieces. Director Maurice Brayton said the concert will be shortened slightly while the marching portion is lengthened and a public address system will be used at the field.

In Oakland Iowa on May 24 Joe Morris a 75 year old man was initially reported beaten to death by robbers. State investigator W W Akers said Morris was alive and rushed to Mercy Hospital Council Bluffs with injuries attributed to an attempted act of self harm.

Chairman Carl Cook of the Republican state central committee said the state convention will be July 15 and the state judicial convention July 23, both in Des Moines.
