James Johnston Ross Dies in California
James Johnston Ross aged 75 long a Washington resident died Wednesday afternoon at his son H J Ross home in Fontana California. The body will be brought to Washington for burial and funeral services are set for Monday at two o clock in the L A Jones funeral home with Rev A W Henke in charge. Burial will be at Elm Grove cemetery. Surviving are his son and two daughters Fannie Mintle of Grinnell Nellie Nichols of Chicago. His wife had been dead for more than thirty years.

Miss Helena Mauthe's freshmen home economics class presented a sewing exhibit at the high school featuring dresses in many styles and colors, children's clothes, smocks, pajamas, and lingerie. The display included pillow covers, embroidered silverware folders, notebooks, samplers, hooped rugs, waste-paper baskets, and pressed leather pocketbooks. A Latin display with notebooks and soap carvings highlighted Rome's dress and architecture customs. A large crowd attended after class day exercises and the evening viewing.
