Explosion injures Indian police in Multan raid

Buffington Hurt In Auto Collision Near Columbus Junction
Buffington, son of Mr and Mrs Dick Buffington, was injured in a two car crash on Primary No 76 near the Cairo Road south of Columbus Junction. He suffered multiple broken ribs and facial injuries and was unconscious briefly. Harold Duncan, driver of the other car, escaped with bruises as both vehicles left the road into ditches. Duncan is a Pine Brothers Auto employee and a Columbus Junction resident. Buffington was cared for by his parents at home. The collision occurred as both cars traveled at speed through a restricted, obstructed intersection.

Mary Etta Welch, born November 20, 1882 near Crawfordsville, died Saturday night after a sudden illness while at the produce house where she worked as bookkeeper for Robert R. Shafter’s business. She leaves husband Robert R. Shafter, her parents M. W. Welch and spouse, Scott Welch, sister Mrs. Floyd Maxwell, and a host of relatives. Services Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church with Rev. G W Poole officiating. burial in Crawfordsville cemetery.

Mrs George H Jones aged 64 died at Bellview hospital Muscatine after weeks of illness. Born Ada Stone February 4 1866 she married George Jones March 11 1884. They lived on a Union township farm until 1919 then moved to Columbus Junction. Nine children survive and funeral services are set for 2 PM Wednesday at the family home with burial in Columbus Junction cemetery.
