Korean Reds Cut Off Electricity Crisis Deepens
May 14 report from Seoul says the Soviet puppet government in northern Korea cut all electric power to American-occupied south. Lt. Gen. John Hodge ordered an emergency plan to generate power, but U S forces could supply only 50 to 75 percent of demand. The U S Navy power barge at Pusan and a second barge at Lincoln would boost supply. Hodge blamed Russians for continued outages and rejected Korotkov’s claim that Koreans and Russians shared power talks.
