Study Plan to End Meat Strike
Chicago May 14 A district director of the striking CIO packinghouse workers said the international board will meet tomorrow to study a federal proposal to settle the nationwide walkout. Wayne Thurman said the meeting would be at 1 p m in Ivansville Indiana with labor conciliators reportedly near an agreement. A union spokesman confirmed the board meeting but had no plans to discuss the federal settlement proposal. The board is said to be discussing union policies and representatives of all UPW locals have been invited. The international union urges maintaining the status quo on all strike fronts.
