Chas Reeves departed last evening aboard the B and N W for Corning Iowa where he will attend a large sale today. Tomorrow he travels to Lenox for Myers cattle sale featuring over two hundred fifty head. Reeves is becoming well known statewide for his work.
Death of Joseph Utter, a well known printer and G A R man, as reported from Denver. Born March 30 1838 in Clearmont county Ohio he moved to Burlington Iowa in 185, served as sergeant then captain in the Twenty fifth Iowa during the Civil War. He later worked on the Rocky Mountain Herald and Register Call before moving to Central City. Funeral at 5 pm at 2446 Grant Avenue, remains shipped to Burlington Iowa.
The latest amusement is the Kinetoscope showing moving pictures. Audiences watched comic reels including a fisherman's mishap, street scenes of Fifth Avenue, a rooster fight, and a prize fight. Some scenes from McKinley’s inauguration were shown. Entertainment continues at The Graham tonight, tomorrow night, and tomorrow matinee.
The community is reminded to pay bills on the 15th, with warnings of added costs if not paid by the next Wednesday. A civil case, Munro vs. Burham, was heard in Capt. Maxwell's court regarding a stock deal. the jury deadlocked after Easter. A telegram reports the death of Mrs. W. W. Pay of Laketown, Dakota, sister to local residents Knight and Willis Wagner and Mrs. Julia Beanblossom. a sister, Mrs. Thos. Pay, died previously in Volga Dak.
Notice proclaims every dog within Washington city limits must be registered with the city clerk or face seizure and destruction. Signed by J J Kellone, City Clerk. The message warns enforcement and urges prompt attention.
The walls of the Court House have been frescoed into olive and cream tones in the Roman style. William G.
