Cambridge Maryland faced a tense scene as National Guardsmen patrolled streets under militia law to ban protests. About 150 Negro demonstrators sang and marched for two days, tear gas used once. 13 leaders including Gloria Richardson faced civil arrest charges and were held at Pikesville Armory. Separately Morse warned of a martyrdom complex, Nashville saw a desegregation scuffle, and New York advisory panel questioned total city desegregation.

Leroy Shoemaker, vocational agriculture teacher at Mid-Prairie High School for five years, has resigned to take a similar position with Rochelle Public Schools in Rochelle Illinois. The Mid-Prairie Board of Education accepted the resignation at a recent special meeting and Shoemaker plans to move with his family to Rochelle before July 1.

Helen May Spence Seeberger 70 of 627 East Washington Street died this morning at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a sudden illness. Funeral rites at St James Catholic Church with Jones Funeral Home in charge. Survived by daughters Mrs John Bonner Lexington Kentucky and Mrs James Custer Washington and son C M Seeberger Lexington plus 51x grandchildren. Born December 22 1883 in Hanover Kansas to Alex and Cora Spence. Married Charles Seeberger December 2 1915. he died June 16 1961. She lived in Washington three years. member of St James Church St Josephs Circle and Altar and Rosary Society.
