Guthrie Center Woman Found Dead in Car Trunk
A Guthrie Center woman, Mrs. Lillian Elizabeth Randolph, 57, was found murdered with about 13 stab wounds in the trunk of her 1965 Dodge at Des Moines airport. No arrests. the body was identified by Polk County Medical Examiner Dr. Leo Luka who ruled it murder.

Johnson seeks federal pay raise for military and civilian staff
President Johnson urged Congress to approve a pay increase costing 853 million dollars annually starting January 1. The proposal, backed by a presidential panel, would raise civilian salaries by 3 percent, uniformed personnel by 4.8 percent excluding short service enlisted, and enlisted base pay by 2.7 percent, aiming to restore 1963 pay relationships and reject the notion government work is inferior.

Will survey needs of senior citizens in Washington
The Washington Senior Citizens Council met at the YMCA with 17 members. Dennis Stutrud presided as Mayme Squire led a survey committee reporting 700 residents age 65 plus. Two Iowa Traffic Fatalities Raise Toll to 212

Skating Party Nets $30 for 4-H Fund
Mike Trier president of the Washington County Dutch Creek Flyers 4-H Club gave a $30 check to the county extension office for general expenses of the 4-H citizenship trip to Washington next July.
