Jail Fire Damages Van Buren County Jail
Darrell Melvin Moon of Keokuk started a mattress fire in his cell in the Van Buren County jail near Keosauqua. Sheriff Orville Lee said the blaze caused several thousand dollars in damage to the jail and his residence above it, with smoke also affecting the sheriff’s quarters. Moon was alone in custody and facing Lee County breaking and entering charges.

Iowa Student Sues State Over Icey Capitol Steps Injury
