The Washington Community High School presents a combined concert in the school gym May 7 at 8 p.m. directed by Alan T Bergstrom and Vernon F Feuerhelm. The symphonic band opens with Beethoven to jazz and a Broadway medley. Soprano Sara Kephart is featured with pianist Bonnie Miller. The Girls and Boys Glee Clubs perform modern selections and the Choir offers secular and religious pieces. This is the final public musical program for the 1963 64 school year.

Concessions Planned for Washington 125th Anniversary
Committee members met this week to map space allotments on the square for the Washington 125th anniversary celebration. Milo Orris led planning with Leo Beauchamp assisting, detailing carnival rides, concession stands, and sponsor refreshments by the Crawfordsville Legion, Washington Kiwanis Club, and Washington VFW. Public restrooms and a refreshment stand will be provided by the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Schoonover marks 11th anniversary at drugstore

Junior life saving course offered at Washington YMCA
A junior life saving course will be held at the Washington YMCA starting Monday May 11 and continuing each Monday Wednesday and Thursday evening from 7 to 9 through May 28. Mrs James Richart will instruct the class limited to ten members. Those who complete will receive Red Cross and YMCA certificates. Ages 12 to 15 may register by May 11. Cost for non members is 1 plus 50 cent book. members pay 50 cent for the book.

Mrs Jay Brown of Washington is hospitalized in St Anthony Hospital Amarillo Texas with a broken ankle from a Saturday auto accident. Her husband Mr Brown not injured. Accident occurred 31 miles southwest of Calbert Texas while they were traveling from Van Nuys California to Washington. Surgery performed in Amarillo to set two broken ankle bones. Tornadoes strike northwest Iowa causing multiple injuries
United Press International reports tornadoes and high winds raked northwest Iowa, hitting Sioux City and the Iowa Great Lakes region then extending into Minnesota. No train trip for whisker group
