Democrats 19 Support the Haugen Bill
Rep Rainey of Illinois, chair of a 50 member democratic inquiry panel, said he would back the Haugen stabilization bill though the committee has not recommended a measure. The bill would keep prices for basic crops for two years via a 575 million revolving fund and an eventual equalization fee on sales. The House will discuss Haugen alongside Tincher credit and Curtis Aswell marketing measures. The committee hopes to advance one bill to Democrats unofficially.

Oscar S Straus former diplomat cabinet member philanthropist and financier died at his Fifth Avenue home in New York at age 76 after long illness.
