Des Moines report says Iowa farm debt councils will invoke the Frazier Lemke bankruptcy act if mortgage holders press foreclosure. Notice issued by M. L. Bowman chair of the state farm debt committee.
Iowa drouth area farmers were offered nearly 250000 bushels of government seed oats for 75 cents a bushel cash or on a note at 4 percent interest. The program targets needy growers affected by drought conditions.
Des Moines reports state income tax receipts exceed 1.5 million with about 150,000 taxpayers having filed returns. The payment deadline is three days away and falls at midnight Monday.
Mrs John Brink wife of a local plumber won $450 in a bank night on Wednesday night and collapsed from a heart attack as she entered the theatre. The incident occurred immediately after the prize was announced.
The Clinton river level reached 9.4 feet above low water this morning, up 0.3 feet in 24 hours. Reports from the north indicate floods entering the main stream from Wisconsin and other tributaries, with further rises anticipated for several days.

Des Moines March 29 The state senate voted to make the motor vehicle regulatory and truck port of entry bill a special order for Wednesday April 10. The measure has drawn controversy in border cities. A separate insurance inquiry faces postponement. The senate also will hear open sessions on extending aid administration shifts from the farm bureau to county extension boards with funding from county funds. Also considered was osteopathy education standards and a two year limit on promissory note judgments secured by unforeclosed mortgages.
In Des Moines the Iowa Senate rejected Kraschel’s direct live stock buying bill by 26 to 22 after an all day session. The measure would have required packers to pay board prices and post grade based rates, with regulation by the secretary of agriculture. A reconsideration motion might still be filed by Harrington or Baldwin.

Sheriff reports about a dozen White Rock hens disappeared from the Fred Donaldson farm northeast of town last night. Max Donaldson heard a car start nearby but assumed a highway stoppage. Morning count revealed missing fowls and tracks thought to be from the thief. The birds were registered and marked.
Two men robbed Durant Savings Bank in Durant Iowa forcing bank receiver Harry Kelly and assistant Walter Minert into a vault. They escaped with cash in the cashier’s cage and vault. Amount unclear possibly $40 to $1,000. Suspects described as about 28 and 35 years old fled toward Davenport in a bright cape.
