Sigourney farmer Newton-Adolph Martens testified he argued with his wife last August and she pointed a shotgun at him. He said during a struggle for the gun she was shot. Prosecutors allege murder in the case and the trial continued today.
Jane McHenry returns to Iowa Falls from an eastern hospital where her stomach was corrected. Paul McHenry, her father, moves the family residence to Iowa Falls from Sioux City.
Iowa health commissioner Dr. Walter L. Berring reported a second straight rise in measles cases after a dip. Last week total reached 1,496, up nearly 20 percent from 1,306 the prior week.
Beverly June Elliott, infant daughter of Mrs. Robert Elliott, survives after her mother rushed back into a fire to rescue the baby and perished with her husband and infant son in the same blaze that destroyed their home late Wednesday night. The baby’s condition is described as satisfactory and she is recovering well under care.
Claire FE Robison 26, daughter of Mr and Mrs Edgar Robison of Greeley and a student at Johnson Bible College Kimberlin Heights Tenn drowned in the Tennessee river near there March 16 and was recovered Tuesday.
Council Bluffs reports Helen Kuhl 17 year old survivor of a fiendish attack in Pacific Junction last week was pronounced after authorities failed to identify the slayer. Dr Arthur C Brown her physician said recovery chances may be impaired by continued questioning aimed at finding the killer of her sister Kath.
