Police Chief Fred Machholz Deputy Sheriff Clem Wagner and Federal Agent Brock visited the home of 39 year old James Wallace Saturday night and knocked off a 55 gallon still during the raid.
Art Mills a veteran pilot and brother of William Mills of 629 Maple Avenue landed at Burlington airport for fuel at midnight Sunday after a duck crash shattered his front window. He remained groggy from the encounter.
Peter J. Delper dang, 40, a farmer near Le Mars, died Monday night from injuries after falling beneath a disk pulled by a runaway team. The accident occurred Monday afternoon on his property.

Katherine Funk age 7 daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Funk of Le Mars died this morning from burns received in an explosion of floor wax her mother was preparing at home yesterday.

A $199 500 bond issue to fund construction of a new city hall and auditorium in Waterloo was defeated by voters. The measure failed 6 604 to 8 087 in a Monday ballot.
Rev. W. J. Diegelman of First Baptist Church Cedar Falls submitted his resignation Sunday and announced acceptance of a call from the First Baptist Church of Laramie Wyoming. He will continue ministry and work among university students.
Amana business activity has risen since the colonial society’s reorganization less than three years ago. The growth has necessitated a second remodeling of the society’s main office at Amana to handle expanded operations and services.
Des Moines March 26 The Iowa House approved the administration fish and game consolidation bill by 102 to 1 with Campbell dissenting. The measure merges the fish and game commission with the board of conservation and heads to the Senate for final action. An amendment limits the conservation director's salary to 3500. The day also saw a Senate move to create a five member state milk marketing board and other calendar actions.
Merchants sponsor a city Treasure Hunt with over 500 dollars in prizes. Shoppers receive numbered tickets. on April 11 windows display prize numbers and later prizes are awarded by matching ticket numbers. April 12 and 13 mark Washington Feature Days with special bargains and Easter merchandise.
A bill to allocate 20000 dollars to build two state police radio stations in southern Iowa was reported out for passage. Stations would mirror existing Des Moines Waterloo and Storm Lake systems without fixed city sites. Fairfield voters approved 100000 dollars in bonds for a new municipal light plant and distribution system by 68 votes. In Iowa City the city election elected seven aldermen all favoring municipal ownership led by City Attorney Thomas Martin who beat Clem Boyle by over 600 votes.

Des Moines reports a sharp temperature drop as a low pressure system moves in from the Dakotas. Meteorologist Charles D. Reed predicts tomorrow’s highs near 82 degrees with recent state highs reaching 78 in Cornelia Bluff. Small amounts of precipitation noted at several stations.
In Washington on March 26 the House rejected retention of the Thomas inflation rider and voted 186 to 78 to send the measure to conference with the Senate. The rule automatically directs conferees to accept no Senate changes.
In Washington on March 26 the House approved sending the $4.88 billion work relief bill to conference, aiming to block an inflation bloc and sideline the Thomas $1 billion Silver rider. Sioux City police hold four suspects Beatrice Alexson Brule Wis Paul Clayton Marie Morgan Oelwein and Mrs Margaret Moran Chicago in a kidnapping spree linking the March 20 Omaha victim Gene Mullin and two western Iowa farmers Alfred Martin Mapleton and Clifford Gardner Harlan. Evidence seized includes a sawed off shotgun drugs and license plates from the Mullin case. Alexson’s statements connect the farm disappearances to Mullin. she names no definite boyfriend.
Attorney T Brookhart said he has received no intimation from his brother former Senator Smith W Brookhart that he plans to return to Washington to practice law. He noted a letter from Smith on Saturday and no such intention was mentioned. Myrtle Poole said the Brookharts did not discuss it in letters. Joe Brookhart, the senator's son, is helping at the orchard on the family place east of town.

H C Reppert president of the Retail Merchants Delivery testified at a legislative investigation that W K Wissler, Governor Herring's business partner, urged him to raise bids four cents a case to fund a so called kitty. Reppert described three discussions about the trucking contract and noted the White Line won at 29 cents a case while his bid was 25 cents. The kitty's recipient and details were not disclosed and Governor Herring was not compelled to testify.
Preliminary 1935 census count by district supervisor M. D. Thomson reports 2456 farms in Washington County, up from 2337 on April 1, 1920. The figure is preliminary and subject to correction.

Washington Chamber of Commerce and county supervisors met to push improvement of the Wayland Washington road. County Engineer W P Rawn estimated 845000 for grading a bridge and surfacing and sought federal road building funds through the 4880 million work relief bill. Congressman E C Eicher endorsed the effort and pledged to obtain support from Senator Louis Murphy. The road, not primary but farm to market type, has two miles unimproved near Wayland and has hindered travel during wet weather. The groups plan to approach the state highway commission for consideration.
Mrs Emma Wilson of Burlington returned home after ten days visiting Mr and Mrs W M Fitzwilliam. Mrs Wilson is a sister of Mr Fitzwilliam.
Mayor Lloyd Lytle fined Fred Garrett 3.50 following information alleging assault filed by Frank Shelangoskie. The case stems from an afternoon quarrel between Garrett and Shelangoskie on North Iowa Avenue.
Clem Kessel, 28, formerly of Washington, is held here for passing alleged worthless checks in Davenport on March 26.
