A capacity crowd attended the 14th annual Washington County Swine Producers banquet and program in the local Methodist Church Tuesday evening. Burns Byram of Cedar Rapids spoke and Bev Meyers and Friends from Sac City provided entertainment as three new directors were elected for three-year terms: Dennis Sieren Keota Alvin Jones Crawfordsville and Delbert Grecian Riverside.

Mother and twins injured in Waterloo car-train crash
In Waterloo Iowa a mother Joyce Bunger 18 and her 6 month old twins Dellis and Dale were hospitalized in serious condition after a car struck an Illinois Central Railroad switch engine on an icy crossing. Driver Robert Bunger escaped serious injury and said he did not see the switch engine in time.

Funeral services for Washington businessman Thomas A Duncan are set for 2 p m Saturday at Marion Avenue United Presbyterian Church with burial at Elm Grove Cemetery. Duncan 49 led local civic life and owned Duncan’s Shop for Women after 17 years in local theaters. He served in multiple clubs and organizations and was born August 13 1914 in Washington County. He is survived by his wife two sons Larry and William a daughter Susan a sister and a brother.
