Remap plans near ready for Iowa districts
Iowa legislative reapportionment plan may be ready for distribution by end of next week, House Speaker William Harbor said after phone talks with Lt. Gov. Roger Jepsen and Supreme Court Chief Justice C. Edwin Moore. Moore indicated the plan could arrive late next week or by April 3 or 4. The Iowa Supreme Court has redrawn districts since ruling the 1971 plan unconstitutional, causing delays and a shifted primary date from June 6 to August to give officials time to prepare. Moore will decide when lawmakers can obtain the plan, with a final delivery date to be announced soon.

Connally Warns Food Chains on Price Increases
Treasury Secretary John B. Connally alerted food retailers that the government may impose controls if the food price spiral continues. County lets contracts for two new bridges
The county board of supervisors accepted the combined low bid of 52,555.54 from the Carl Sopher Company of Oskaloosa for building two bridges over forks of Crooked Creek in Crawford Township. The structures will be doubled T beam designs. Three higher bids were also submitted.
