A thief looted the Don Kied farm home near Dewar taking jewelry cash and items valued at 100. In exchange the burglar left an old hat matching the size of Mr Kied's new hat according to the report.
Creston lacks details as county road crew worker Art Petersohn dies after a broken cable on a county road job 12 miles east of Cres ton. Petersohn was pulling trees with Jack Hunt when a cable snap sent a flying clamp into the tractor cab striking him in the temple.

He was a longtime Mason in Washington and custodian of the lodge rooms. Born March 1850 in Monmouth Jackson County Iowa he moved to Washington over 55 years ago living on a farm briefly.
Allison Pettit 82 dies from burns while burning trash at his Washington home. Funeral at Sherman funeral home in Brighton with Rev. R. W. Fillmore officiating. Pettit survived by wife, two nephews, a niece, and several siblings. graveside service planned in Putnam Illinois. No inquest.
The post office orders a survey of Crawfordsville rural mail routes to judge consolidating route 1. Howard Williams becomes temporary carrier after John C. Michell retires February 28. Route length roads topography and delivery times will be assessed for possible eliminations to save 600 to 800 dollars yearly.
