City trims paving plan for summer streets
Washington officials cut East Third Street and North 12th Street from the summer paving project while planning to proceed with other sections and to formalize bidding. West Monroe sewer work is reduced by one block due to existing sewer lines, and four blocks on East Seventh will be funded by bonds. In Burlington Iowa two Illinois men were held in connection with 1059 robberies of two loan companies. Charles Robert Fitzgarrald 24 and Glenn Eugene Schofield from Peoria were arrested at Fort Madison after Iowa road blocks. They are charged with robberies at the Thrift Loan Co Burlington and the Universal CIT Credit Corp Bettendorf.

Five Die in Auto Crashes Across Iowa Toll Review
Five people were killed in separate Iowa auto crashes Friday night and today. A Maxwell man Arlo Adolphi, 25, died when his car went off Iowa 30 plunging 600 feet down a embankment and destroying a farm porch seven miles north of Centerville. Kenneth Rainey of Newton was struck by a car while walking along a curb in Newton Friday night. Police say another driver Maybelle Bookout tried to stop the other vehicle and was involved in the crash along with Newton. The statewide 1965 traffic toll rose to 115, 30 fewer than the same date last year.
