Sioux City police and a county force with a federal agent captured Jack Ralph Paust 25 and Darrell Copenhaver 24 after a night chase through the city. The two had escaped Onawa jail Feb 28 before their Fort Madison transfer. They were linked to recent break ins at a Mapleton clothing store and an Akron liquor store.

Glen E Robinson 30 from Rhodes died Sunday at Broadlawns General Hospital from injuries in a Saturday night automobile accident. His car sideswiped a KTuan Transport Co gasoline truck driven by Merle Foreen. two following cars were struck. Robinson was cited for driving while intoxicated the night of the crash, a charge later dismissed. His license had been suspended but was restored earlier after a separate 1943 case.

Oren Kepper, a young farmer from the Crawfordsville area, had his left hand amputated above the wrist after it slipped into a corn cutter while cutting corn for cattle feed. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Sam Kepper and lives on his grandfather J C Cannons farm near Crawfordsville with his wife.

Mrs. Joseph R. Lease 71 of Crawfordsville died after a heart attack at her son Gary Lease’s home. Funeral plans by L. A. Jones Funeral Home include Crawfordsville Methodist Church service pending word from a grandson in service. She was born May 5 1872 and survived by seven children, a sister, a brother, 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mrs Charlotte E Ling, wife of Lt Warren E Lins, a prisoner captured after a bomber raid, received a March 17 letter from Sanford Lowe of New York reporting a Berlin shortwave broadcast saying Warren Ellis Lins, USAAF, service number 0-671825, was shot down over axis territory, captured, and held in a German camp, safe and well. The message offered encouragement.
