U S to Help Mine Sweep Suez Canal Reopening
The State Department said the United States will assist in sweeping mines in the Suez Canal waters to speed reopening, at Egypt’s request. It will also provide advice and training to Egyptian personnel clearing unexploded ordnance along the canal and banks. Cairo sources said Egypt and Britain agreed on a joint mine clearing operation.

Judge orders secret Watergate grand jury report to House

Bodies found in eastern Iowa after teen girl shot
A second body was found in a Cedar Rapids area wooded site near Palisade park as 18 year old Michael Servey's death remained undetermined. 17 year old Maureen Connally, also Cedar Rapids, was found earlier along the Wapsipinicon River in Jones County. Authorities said the pair had been missing about a week after a car incident.

Pesticide exam dates set for Iowa applicators license
The Iowa Department of Agriculture lists area dates for written pesticide applicator exams to certify competence for 1974 licenses. Tests run Mondays to Fridays 9 to 3 at the State Chemical Lab Des Moines and on March 14 and 21 at Cedar Rapids sites. A training session from 1 to 4 pm accompanies the Cedar Rapids exam.

Russian dissident Litvinov leaves for United States
Pavel Litvinov grandson of a Stalin foreign minister and an active dissident left the Soviet Union for Vienna and then the United States. At Sheremetyevo airport more than two dozen activist Jews and dissidents hugged him and toasted with champagne. He spent four years in Siberian exile after a 1968 Red Square protest against the invasion of Czechoslovakia. He travels with his wife Maya and their children. Friends say citizenship may be stripped and return prevented. He planned to go to Rome then the United States possibly to teach Russian studies. KGB officials watched but did not intervene during farewells.

Space age windmill to test 100 kilowatt turbine
The United States plans an $865,000 two year program at Lewis Research Center Cleveland to build a space age windmill. A 125 foot rotor atop a 125 foot tower will generate up to 100 kilowatts at Plum Brook Sandusky Ohio. The NSF says the test will inform future 1,000 to 2,000 kilowatt systems and is the first large US wind energy project in 30 years.
