Work of a Church Hints at Early Washington County Origins

A Washington county historical note traces the First U P Church from its 1841 founding by Rev. Vincent and its Elm tree communion, listing founding members, early elders Jas Dawson and Wm French, and describes its growth from a 16x16 frame building to a remodeled 1896 auditorium. It contrasts Methodist origins in 1838 and recounts later community ties in Wayland with a wedding at Eicher church observed by local youth.
