The report notes a forfeited contest as Professor LaGrange failed to appear, leaving the scheduled events in doubt. No replacement or statement from the professor was provided, and the outcome remains unsettled pending further action by officials.
Judge Ryan presided as Miss Ozella Beekman served as court reporter. Civil matters were disposed of including a bond forfeiture in the LaGrange seduction case, with the school fund receiving 8600 cash. Other actions were dismissed or defaulted, with State of Iowa v J C Boice nuisance awaiting today.
About 400 members attended a meeting in J. W. Morton’s office where Alex Dawson was elected president and Dr. H. Logan secretary. A three member committee was named to arrange future meetings and another to act as solicitors. The next meeting aims to invite a prominent Republican speaker and consider housing a music school led by P. K. Matus who plans to locate here.
William Paul Moothart, a rising McKinley man, is organizing a McKinley Club amid Republican strength in the region. The general sentiment among local Republicans appears to favor Allison.
A former Zanesville resident recalls a six o clock dinner hosted by Mrs. Keeley for Ohio friends. The four course meal featured beautiful table décor and carnations as souvenirs. Guests included Martha Raguet and the Wilson, Rodman, Clifton, Shaw, Raguet, and Allie Wilson households.
A warrant in Justice Maxwell's court targeted a man living just outside the city. The sheriff searched the premises and found only grape wine that had soured into vinegar, resulting in no arrests.
Mrs. Arminta Ferguson’s tenants Irvin Russell and his wife seek to stay in her rental in West Washington. Ferguson allegedly ordered doors removed and windows taken out to force a move, creating an airy, unsafe living space. Russell went with Marshal Heath to address the complaint. The couple spent the night in the improvised conditions, then moved out the next morning amid ongoing trouble.

The last regular meeting wrapped up prior year duties and approved a 22000 dollar ordinance for the coming year. New officers were sworn in, including Kellogg as clerk and Miller as street commissioner, with Langworthy and Stich ter among new members. A wedding followed as Bridget O Hooligan wed Peter Mahuskey at the bride's parents home with a lengthy ceremony and photos by Foley.
Rev Logue alias Charles Magee fled Monmouth after larceny charges. Monmouth police chief Molliday arrived in Pittsburg and alerted Allegheny officers to arrest him while he was in Allegheny aiding a revival. A trunk shipment and a bank-failure case also surface in the day’s legal notices as attorneys Brown and Stockman seek a hearing before Judge Ryan.
Dr. Moore of Wayland visited the city last evening. Mr and Mrs Leigh Wallace returned from Chicago this morning. The school board met last evening and disposed of business. Chas Wakelee and A P Miller were Wellman visitors yesterday. James Martin and L Gormley were Crawfordsville visitors yesterday. A street fight drew attention but caused little damage. The M F E social at Mrs C S Reeves last evening was a social and financial success.
