Man shoots for butter theft sentence in Iowa case
Byron Green, 32, of Sioux City, arrested January 13 in Chicago as a suspect in stealing 1230 pounds of butter from Wapsie Valley Creamery in Manville. He pleaded guilty before Judge George W. Wood and received a five year sentence at Fort Madison penitentiary. Appeal bond set at 2000 dollars. Sheriff Carl Anderson and Patrolman Karl Meinhard took Green to prison after sentencing. He was arrested when he allegedly tried to collect for butter stolen at Masonville and sold to a Chicago commission house.

Explosion tears down glaze mill near Cincinnati
An outlying glaze mill crib of the King powder company fifteen miles northeast of Cincinnati was blown to ruins shortly after 1 30 a m by a terrific explosion. No one was working near the mill and no injuries were reported. The 500 acre plant has been engaged mostly in fulfilling government defense contracts.

Official news agency from Bucharest said a severe earthquake damaged the Buzzau district in Romania. Three hundred homes a church and a school were destroyed at the town of Cataischul. Casualty figures were not known. The district had suffered a quake last November.
