The Ray Defibaugh farm home two miles northwest of Wellman was totally destroyed by fire Thursday. The blaze started in the kitchen chimney and spread to the attic before neighbors could control it. Snow packed roads delayed response by Wellman and Katona fire departments, leaving clothing and furnishings lost. Mr and Mrs Defibaugh and their three daughters moved to a nearby tenant house. the farm is owned by Paul Adams.

Des Moines Man Freed After Heard Dismissal In Rape Case
Ber thal Shuck 47 Des Moines was released from county jail after Judge Alvin Hoard dismissed the rape charge tied to an alleged January 28 assault on an expectant mother.
