DES MOINES March 6 UP Iowa reported 108 influenza deaths in January up from 78 the prior year. The first death total from the current outbreak is tentative. Over half the deaths had pneumonia complications. February reports were arriving at about 60 daily. January 2009 cases to February 27 totalled 12 times higher than the same period in 1940. March 6 Waverly. C W McMillan now 82 recalls his boyhood on his father's farm wagon and says he has held the reins most of his life.
