A boy, Lawrence Feldick, 11, assisting his father Ed Fellick, sustained a serious abdominal wound when a pitchfork pierced him after a fall on a farm in Buffalo Center Iowa.

Iowa Administrator L. 8. Hill announced unofficial Washington instructions to reduce the WPA payroll in Iowa from about 35 000 to roughly 22 000. The move will affect an estimated 13 000 workers over the coming weeks as they face reduced hours or transfer to other federal work.

Violence marks spread of the building service workers strike to major hotels in Manhattan including the Windsor and Park Avenue properties. Pickets clashed with workers while police guarded the Hotel Pennsylvania as talks claimed wage increases of eight dollars a month in several buildings.

Twenty five school children including 13 boys and 12 girls escaped death when the bus carrying them to school plunged over a 75 foot embankment near Montrose Colorado. The crash occurred today and local authorities reported all pupils survived with injuries described as slight.
Ott Harrington pleaded guilty to forgery and was sentenced by Judge J. C. Patterson in Oskaloosa to six months in the county jail. He had been held in the local county jail for weeks awaiting action, and was moved to Oskaloosa yesterday by Sheriff Harold M. Putnam and County Attorney George F. Morrison.

The Iowa Council sponsors the sessions with no registration and an offering will defray expenses.
Richard Olds aged 16 died at his Davenport home after several weeks of illness from heart trouble. He was born January 20, 1920 in Washington, son of J H and Wanda Beatty Olds. Survived by parents a sister Aliee and paternal grandmother Mrs Joel Olds. Funeral set for Saturday at 1 30 pm at Runge funeral home.
President James DeWit of the Presbyterian Brother hood announces strong interest in the winter meeting next Monday night with Capt D A Morris army engineer as guest speaker. Those attending are urged to call reservations to Mr DeWit. Morris is described as an exceptional speaker with a splendid personality.
A brief service will be held at the grave in Ainsworth cemetery at 4 15 p m following the burial.
Washington March 6 The administration submitted to the ways and means subcommittee a far reaching program as an alternative to the corporation and processing taxes proposed by Roosevelt if congress rejects those plans The program was studied by the house group and presented by Guy C Helvering collector of internal revenue It goes much farther than the income and sales tax in the administration program disclosed yesterday by chairman Hill of Washington sub committee
Emil A. Hocke, 26, pleaded not guilty to a murder charge at arraignment for the killing of his boyhood friend Elmer BahnS, 31, last Saturday night in Davenport. He was held to the grand jury without bond after police said he confessed the shooting ending a drinking spree.
Des Moines reports Boyd Snell aged 50 was fatally injured when crushed against an elevator he was repairing. Authorities described the accident as a fatal industrial mishap with Skell or Snell found at the scene. The incident occurred today in Des Moines, prompting investigations by local safety officials.
Miss Winma Rittler aged 67 died at 6 a.m. at her sister Mrs Joe Witting’s home in Wayland after 26 years of bedfast illness. Born December 24 1878 near Noble to Lewis and Elizabeth Weinberger Rittler, she was survived by two brothers Jank Rittler Libertyville AL and Dr E G Rittler Wayland and three sisters Mrs Henry Mast Crawfordsville Mrs Francis Duenbstle and Mrs Joe Witting Wayland. She was a member of the Wayland Mennonite church. Funeral arrangements were not yet made.
Democratic caucuses will convene Saturday at 7 30 p m in the Washittz ton wards and Washington and Franklin townships to select delegates for the county convention to be held March 14 at city hall Washington. A total of 82 delegates will be chosen based on the last election. Oregon township caucus is scheduled for Monday at Don Rabenold's office Armsworth per Chas W Hazelett

In Belgrade March 6 Premier Milan Stojadenovitch of Yugoslavia narrowly escaped three pistol shots fired by fascist Damian Arnautovichi as he addressed the chamber of deputies. The attack caused an uproar. Arnautovichi was seized by deputies and three others arrested with many more expected.
British protest follows Italian bombing of a British Red Cross ambulance unit near Quoran in Ethiopia. Dr A J M Melley says bombs hit a ground flag and red cross tents, with planes circling the camp repeatedly despite markers. Addis Ababa residents were ordered to prepare evacuation as fear of air raids grows.
Governor Blanton S. Winship announces a mobilized Puerto Rico campaign against lawlessness and threats of assassination as seven nationalist leaders are arrested for alleged revolutionary activity on March 6.
Fire last night around 11 30 destroyed the Havel flour and feed store and the adjoining garage. The old Riverside building, about 60 years old, suffered total loss with two carloads of feed inside. Insurance partly covers the $5000 to $8000 damage. Ownership lies with Joe and Frank Havel. Frank Havel managed it.
