Iowa women to enlist 25 000 volunteers in the American Society for the Control of Cancer drive in 19?? as state commander Mrs A V O'Brien announces. Each contributor will give one dollar to support cancer control efforts.
A state bureau of investigation stenographer asked a janitor to move a pile of envelopes into the bureau laboratory. Friday morning the envelopes were found in the ladies rest room adjoining the investigation bureau, creating a mix up in the lab area.
Esther Gibson aged 20 of Decatur was sentenced to five years at Rockwell City re formatory by District Judge H. H. Carter after admitting she set her residence ablaze to cover medical bills and a mortgage. She has a husband and a 10 year old daughter.
Old timers in Boone watched two steam locomotives and two Union Pacific coaches travel on flat cars bound for the New York World’s Fair. The engines, built in 1875 or 1876, were not self powered.

The Iowa Congress of Parents and Teachers state board urges better state insane hospitals funds eight hundred thousand dollars for dependent children slum clearance and the teachers annuity bill. The board met with Mrs C C Collester of Spencer and recommends are included in bills before the Iowa legislature.

Bob Murray of Davenport suffered a punctured lung and facial injuries while Marcus Daley of Havre suffered a possible brain concussion and severe eye cuts. Driver William Lyman of Decorah reported the truck slowed for a preceding manure spreader driven by Charles McKinnen of Cedar Rapids.
