For 33 years in Vetwein, Frank Ketchum has drawn attention by not wearing an overcoat or long underwear. He says a 1903 cold led him to discard the coat, and claims any future colds would be minor. In Greene, Mrs. James Pringle uses a 66 year old sewing machine daily, still with the same needle.
The LZ-129, world's largest dirigible, lifted at 3:19 pm under Dr Hugo Bekner with six Zeppelin captains aboard. It rose 1,000 feet in a minute, drifted over Lake Constance, and then coasted away aided by a south wind. The craft, 840 feet long with a 130 foot diameter, carries 50 passengers, 43 crew, and four 1050 horsepower Diesel engines, awaiting North and South American flights this summer.

Des Moines March 4 federal old age assistance expands Iowa grants with about 2 800 000 federal funds for 1936 120 more aged in Washington county will receive checks by April 1 bringing county totals to 270 and statewide recipients to about 30 000 Iowa AOA Commission head Byron G Allen says this starts with a 548 100 Treasury check to match state funds federal aid to Iowa exceeds other states with Washington next at 420 000. Governor Clyde L Herring notes each 2 tax dollar yields 4 for pensions and urges delinquents to pay the Golden Rule tax to aid the needy aged.
