Waverly Iow a column notes four year old Waverly Spohr recovering satisfactorily after a minor illness. The child had earlier seen a doctor for an accident while working as a section foreman on the Illinois Central railroad.
An injured golden eagle that lived on Mrs. Agnes Wagner’s Osage farm for three years died in a shed during winter after being found frozen. Ill with pneumonia, Wagner could not save it. the bird had appeared in summer 1934 with a wing shattered by shot and never flew again after its wing was splinted.
Fourteen year old Jown Falls Derrell Qoler son of Fred and line Mrs. ler living near Popejev slipped on ice while cutting wood with his twin brother. He sat against a buzz saw and his left arm was severed at the shoulder. He is in critical condition at a local hospital.
Mrs. Mary Kent reported to police that a truck load of assorted colored rocks was stolen from her rock garden and fish pool in Ottumwa. The incident highlights a theft involving garden decor and landscaping materials.
Boone city officials estimate 1600 dollars needed to repair pavements torn by a severe winter. No work can start until dry weather returns. Snow removal costs have reached 4500 dollars to date.

Guest speaker Dr. F E R Fulkerson of Canyon City Colorado spoke on his role as director of the American Institute of Applied Psychology and noted his background as a retired medical and educational missionary and diplomat to Japan.
Alois B. Musil of the southeast of Washington is hospitalized with paralysis after a runaway accident yesterday evening. He suffered possible hemorrhage or broken back, with condition improving by morning. an X ray was pending. Musil was driving a team home when the wagon broke loose and the driver was found unconscious about a mile from home.
February in southeastern Iowa saw 17 of 29 days below zero with a 72 degree temperature range. The lowest reached 22 below on the fourth and a high of 60 above on February 28. Precipitation totaled 1.49 inches, mostly snow at ten and a half inches. one rain event measured .568 inches. Local visitors include Jim Breen of St Louis and Mr and Mrs Lyle Maxwell Crawfordsville.
President Roosevelt asked Congress to overhaul the tax system proposing repeal of the corporation income tax excess profits tax and capital stock tax. He urged a graduated tax on undistributed corporation net profits plus processing and windfall levies to raise about 1.0 billion dollars and stabilize the budget.
Des Moines reports that Col Glenn C. Haynes is reappointed warden of the state penitentiary for four years by the Iowa board of control. Governor Herring supports the move and praised Haynes. Also named is Dr Frederick J Swift as four year commander of the soldiers home at Marshalltown.
