Washington City Council Passes Airport Plan and Zoning Review
The Washington city council met Monday and approved plans for airport improvements with a 66000 grant from the FAA and authorized easement acquisitions. A rezoning request for 303 South Second Avenue was referred to the planning commission. Other actions included hiring Don Whitehead as fire truck driver on probation, approving a concrete fire hose testing slab, and hiring Gerald Bender as city dog catcher. Water plant head reports increased well output and higher yearly water usage.

Hoffa Reprimanded by Judge Wilson in Court Corridor
UPI reports in Chattanooga that Teamsters President James R. Hoffa was sharply reprimanded by Federal Judge Frank Wilson for extremely loud corridor remarks near the courtroom. Wilson warned to protect the jury from noise as the seven week trial on conspiracy and jury rigging heads to closing arguments.

The 10 percent liquor tax collected since July 1 has added about 1.596 million to the state treasury through January. Polk County led with 205,576 followed by Linn 116,581 and Woodbury 104,576. Soviet trawler shadowed U S Nationalist Chinese maneuvers
In Formosa the U S Navy joined Nationalist Chinese forces for large landing drills with about fifteen thousand U S and Chinese Marines. A Soviet trawler followed the convoy from Okinawa using electronic gear. An Okinawa reporter said the Soviet crew watched closely but Navy officials said no new tactical insights were gained and the maneuver proceeded as standard amphibious drills.

Senate rejects Democratic reapportionment plan in Iowa debate
In Des Moines the Republican controlled Iowa Senate defeated a Democratic backed citizens plan 40 to 10 during round two of legislative redistricting. Gov Hughes called for reasonable remapping and a temporary plan for this year's elections. The Senate measure would create a 56 member Senate and 120 member House. the Democratic variant would push Senate to 60 with a 120 member House.

Corn price support totals for county and nation in 1963 crop
Washington County farmers had 972471.95 bushels of 1963 crop corn under price support loans and purchase agreements through January 1964. Iowa State Highway Commission in Ames invites bids for three Washington County farm to market road projects. Bids open March 10. One project adds seven reinforced concrete box culvert extensions on a farm to market road from Iowa 22 north to the county line. A second covers 2.892 miles of grading. The third, 2.942 miles, runs on a farm to market road from U S 218 southeast to the Louisa County line.
