Anamosa Iowa March 2 Merve Sankey a Marshalltown youth serving time in the state reformatory for a Hamska county crime was returned to the prison early today after two days of freedom His absence would have allowed parole today but he now faces up to 13 more years in prison His father Ralph Sankey helped return him to custody.
The Senate investigating committee seeks to solve the mystery of papers missing from the Department of Justice files about National City Bank of New York. The missing documents include a 21 year old opinion by Solicitor Fred Lehman in 1911 deeming the bank’s setup illegal.
Washington March 2 Reuters says plans for the inaugural stay as planned despite the death of Senator Thomas J. Walsh who was to be attorney general in Roosevelt's cabinet. Rear Admiral Cary T. Grayson, chairman of the committee, announced the decision.
Senadsor Thomas Walsh, 73, longtime Democratic figure and a onetime attorney general candidate for Roosevelt, died suddenly aboard an Atlantic Coast Line train to Washington. Found unconscious in Daytona Beach earlier, the death is attributed to a heart condition or brain hemorrhage. Walsh helped chair the 1924 Madison Square Garden convention and the 1932 Chicago convention that nominated Roosevelt.
