A survey by R. C. Williams of the state department of public instruction shows that taxpayers in cities with populations from 2 000 to 16 000 pay proportionately higher levies for school support than all other classes.
In Council Bluffs local contractor H. W. Kirchoff along with brothers John and Freq Barber unearthed a cache of gold coins beneath a wrecked building. The trio recovered $500 to $1,000 in $10 and $20 pieces, starting with a $20 coin.
Elmer W. Galt, a 25 year missions worker in North China, said Thursday the anti religious movement and Communist propaganda have largely failed to gain foothold among Chinese populations.

Four Jackson county farmers report dog attacks killed 39 sheep valued at 386 dollars. Patrick Laughlin of Zwingle loses 20 young sheep and 8S. W. Snoberger of Buckhorn 17 sheep and lambs in Maquoketa area.
Des Moines Agriculture Secretary Ray Murray reported 10,698 Iowa farmers had up to February 1 sealed 11,016,574 bushels of corn and received loans totaling 6,059,115.70 dollars. Today is the last opportunity for Iowa farmers to seal corn under the 55 cent loan offer.
Agricultural economists report a survey of markets and supplies indicates cattle prices in Ames-Town will resist the typical spring decline and stay steady into June before a uptick later in the year. Well finished cattle remain scarce and good animals will stay in short supply through 1985.
Ralph McGarraghan, 17, of Yavennert, was severely hurt in a coastline accident when his sled collided with a car. He remained unconscious for two days and suffered a skull fracture Tuesday evening as a result of the crash.

Beh of Des Moines testified before a joint legislative investigation committee about profits from selling 3.5 million dollars in sinking fund warrants and the wider probe into state warrants and refunds dating back to 1925. The State Theatre opened a screening of Louisa May Alcott's Little Men to a large and eager audience. Viewers praised the film for preserving the book’s charm and considered it even greater than Little Women.
Funeral services for Mrs Anna Lovelett Bowers will be held at 1 30 Sunday at L A Jones funeral home. She died yesterday in Chicago after extended illness. Interment at Woodlawn cemetery with family. Surviving are daughter Beulah Moser of South Bend Indiana and sons Glenn Arnold and Donald. Two brothers Frank Kephart Fairfield and James Kephart California. Sisters reside in Des Moines Cedar Rapids.
Governor Floyd Olson of Minnesota argues Minnesota has the tougher legislature after noting 14 investigations started by the Minnesota body versus 3 in Iowa. Olson quips that Minnesota legislators even investigate the federal relief administration.
