Several people escaped death or serious injury when a collision on highway 6 south of Moscow involved two Ford V-8 sedans hauling alcohol. The bootleg car rolled into a ditch and caught fire before its occupants fled. Several cans of alcohol were recovered from the scene.
Iowa City police report three and a half year old boy, son of Mr and Mrs Ray Ryerson, missing from his home since about 11 o'clock Thursday morning. Authorities say he remains unlocated.
Mason City officials confirmed Armour and Co of Chicago is negotiating a purchase of the local Jacob KE Decker and Sons packing plant but said the deal is not yet completed. Market implications and local employment were discussed by city leaders.

DES MOINES Charles F Hearst president of the Iowa Farm Bureau federation joins an amendment battle in Congress to confirm the AAA's power to license processors if they refuse cooperation. He says 40 000 Iowa farm families are unanimously in favor and accuses processors of posing as agriculture supporters in the fight.
Rdy La Gray of Fort Madison Iowa will head a jury of average consumers to judge exhibits at Rockefeller Center during the industrial arts exposition running April 15 to May 15. He won his title in 1927 for living in an average house on an average street in an average city in an average state.
