Des Moines reports 26,220,125 gallons of beer dispensed in the fiscal year ending today at about one dollar a gallon. Iowa collected 1,048,805 in gallonage taxes as the total beer expenditure reached 26,220,126, up 83 percent from the prior year.
Iowa reports a 30 percent rise in the pig crop for the year. Spring pigs reached 8,696,000 in 1986 versus 6,713,000 in 1985, per a survey by rural mail carriers. Leslie M. Carl, federal agricultural statistician, disclosed the figures in Des Moines.

Des Moines reports an all-time gasoline tax receipt for the fiscal year ending today totaling 12,968,582 dollars. June collections reached 1,379,050 dollars, new monthly high, vs 1,853,253 dollars in May and 1,212,791 dollars for June last year.
Crawfordsville opens the Washington County Centennial celebration with a Crawford township program led by Rev. D E Zimmerman and Miss Lillian Holmes.
