Santa Monica reports Burt Lancaster and Norma Marie Lancaster reached an uncontested divorce. Norma said Lancaster left Bel Air home 2 1/2 years ago and has no plans to return while accusing him of extreme cruelty.
President Nixon plans a July 23 departure for a six nation tour that will include Romania the first U.S. president to visit a Communist country He will also travel to the Pacific for the Apollo 11 splashdown then to the Philippines Indonesia Thailand India and Pakistan The trip aims to discuss peace and progress in Asia with leaders while Rogers joins on Manila Indonesia legs and then tours Japan Korea Taiwan Australia and New Zealand.
More than 800 attendees expected at the annual Mennonite missionary work meeting named Mission 69, to be hosted by seven Kalona area Mennonite churches. Housing will be provided in members homes, a long standing tradition to foster fellowship and introduce visitors to local residents.
Parents of pre school children ages two months to six years are invited to the immunization clinic in the basement of the Washington County Courthouse starting July 1. A 50 cent per dose fee applies, with financial aid available. Sessions run 1 to 2 pm with follow ups July 29 and August 26. Diphtheria tetanus pertussis and polio vaccines will be administered in prescribed schedules, with Sabin oral vaccine for polio and smallpox boosters as required.

The Army will burn liquid mustard gas at Rocky Mountain Arsenal and hydrolyze about 11,000 tons of nerve gas at Rocky Mountain or at Tooele Army Depot after scientists warned even minimal risk from cross country transport.
A Des Moines welfare group won approval to erect a single tent near the state capitol for a protest demanding higher welfare payments. The plan, endorsed 3-1 by the Executive Council with conditions, allows one tent, state-property use, and a disclaimer by all participants.
The American Medical Association and its AMPAC made 804,779 in political contributions from Jan 1 1967 to last June 1. Of that total 681,965 was spent during the presidential and congressional campaigns. Most AMPAC funds went to state chapters while 62500 supported Republican causes and 27500 backed Democratic groups in 1967.
United Press International reports Iowa will see mostly cloudy skies with a chance of thundershowers tonight and Sunday. It will be slightly warmer tonight with lows in the 60s in the north to the 70s in the south, and Monday looks partly cloudy and cooler in the southeast.
The Republican Party unveils a city study program to address urban ghetto problems without promises of votes. Action Now, led by Elly Peterson, is part of a broader RNC shakeup discussed at a two day meeting after Rogers Morton became national chair. Peterson previously organized a Detroit action center.
Senator Harold Hughes told Des Moines audiences that medical advances matter little without reversing national priorities toward humanity’s survival. He warned of vast weaponry per person, malnutrition, and war costs while urging halting acceleration of the arms race and reassessing military spending.
President Nixon announces Dr. Roger Egeberg, dean of USC School of Medicine, as assistant secretary of Health, Education and Welfare subject to Senate confirmation. Finch withdrew his first choice Dr. Knowles. Egeberg, 65, a Democrat, served as physician to Gen. MacArthur and as USC medical school dean since 1964.
An intercepted memo references Dr Roger Egeb of Southern Cal and Ev Dirksen, with urging to HEW to the line. The note is signed WEJ and suggests a stance or directive to adhere strictly to the expected course.
