Three Shelby farmers injured in livestock incident
In Harlan County three farmers were hospitalized after being injured by livestock. John Sieck of Harlan broke a leg when a cow kicked him, Hans F.E. Skow of Elk Horn suffered internal injuries from a horse kick, and William Carsten was kicked and dragged by a team of mules, breaking a leg and sustaining other injuries. Davenport A. Simmons, 59, longtime M. L. Parker Co. executive, died at home of heart disease after a round of golf at Duck Creek links. he had been with the Parker company 22 years.

Dubuque's school board will decide July 1 on installing photo electric cells in classrooms to ensure constant light. Norman M. Wilchinski 59 president of Younker Brothers Department Store dies of a heart attack at his desk. Pallbearers will include store executives. Inquest planned into Muscatine air crash deaths
In Muscatine Iowa an inquest was ordered by Coroner W S Norton into the deaths of two local youths after a plane piloted by Lloyd Crissman 17 stalled and crashed near the airport. Alvin Bishop 16 died from head and leg injuries. Crissman survived briefly then died en route to a hospital. The elder Crissman and son had recently moved from Allentown Pennsylvania.

Fred James La Rue of Ottumwa is held in Washington county jail on a charges of larceny in the night time. He was arrested Saturday afternoon after reporting a stolen car at the Ottumwa police station. Loyalist Seaport Attacked Near Sagunto
VALENNCIA June 28. A rebel warship fired 14 shots at Sagunto the loyalist base site today. The ship was with two other vessels. A submarine torpedoed the steamer Cabo Pa los heading to Alicante with food supplies. Forty four crew members reached Alicante and five are missing. Five German warships were seen nearby.
