Des Moines Iowa Falls reports a 14 month old boy in the state fair baby health contest weighs 30 pounds and stands 33 inches tall. Mrs Musson notes the child has 12 teeth and is cutting more. he has walked since nine and a half months old.
Des Moines reports Gov. Nelson Kraschel warned town planning board that federal road funds must keep past levels to sustain permanent construction. He said the $12 million Iowa program will be strained if federal contributions decline and noted the end of duplicative duties with the state conservation commission.
Des Moines producers say coal prices will rise next winter after a meeting. Sixteen members were named to the new Towa coal authority boards to advise the national bituminous economics commission on a minimum mine price for Iowa. The commission will set per ton prices for Iowa and other states.
