Paul Fern owner of a local bakery reports his delivery panel truck caught fire in the garage at about 1 45 am. The vehicle reportedly sounded its own horn and backed out onto the driveway as firemen arrived, seemingly moving in reverse under ignition until the battery exhausted. Fire chief Maynard Brown suggests a shorted wiring activated the horn and solenoid, releasing the truck from the garage and preventing greater damage to the Ferns’ home and car.
