Iowa Highway Commission approved a design contract with Powers and Associates of Iowa City for U.S. 218 relocation from the Washington County line north to U.S. 6. The 5.5 mile project will expand the highway to four lanes at an estimated total cost of 2.272 million dollars. The design work costs 162,992 dollars for prelim survey subsurface work and roadway design. The commission also authorized Roy Jorgenson and Associates to update a highway needs study at 39,435 dollars, aiming for completion by January 1.
