Funeral services for Jacob Putman, who died early yesterday, will be held Friday at 2 30 at L. A. Jones funeral home, conducted by Rev. F W Sutton. Burial will be in Elm Grove cemetery. He leaves daughters Mrs Powelson and Mrs Frank Brinton and siblings John Putman and Mrs Hannah Shrader. He was born May 23 1847 in Hampshire County Virginia and lived in Washington since 1892.

Washington June 23 Major details of the administration tax reduction plan to be submitted to Congress this fall may be decided this week. Chairman Green of the house Ways and Means Committee met treasury officials including Secretary Mellon and warned against expecting a tremendous tax cut this winter. He noted a one per cent cut in the corporate income tax would reduce the surplus by 100 million dollars. the current rate is 13 per cent. Green cited last year’s surplus from non recurring items and urged funding flood control and passage of a second efficiency bill killed by filibuster in the last Congress.
