Mrs. Duncan Nichols and husband, Washington area, will move to Mountain Lake and Alpha Minnesota where he will serve as pastor of the United Press Church here and at Alpha. Nichols has been assistant pastor and ends his local work July 7.
Most millage rates increase in seven of nine cities and towns and in several school districts and rural districts for fiscal year 1976. West Chester and Brighton show declines due to local budgets and reassessments, while Kalona and Wellman post sharp rises. Taxpayers can estimate by using 1 mill per $1,000 of assessed value, with current 27 percent assessment figures, as the county computes 1974 valuations for the new rates.
Gov. Robert Ray arrives in Washington prepared to tell President Ford the National Governors Conference is willing and anxious to work with the administration. He plans private talks and discussions with congressional leaders on general state matters.
United Press International reports partly to mostly cloudy weather with warm humid conditions through Saturday.
