Planting Dormant Roses Now Advised By ISU Extension Expert
Iowa State University extension horticulturist Ben F. Vance says planting dormant or container grown roses now is feasible. Choose potted stock to preview bloom color and form while ensuring at least five hours of sun daily and protection from wind and competition for moisture. Plant deeply enough to cover the graft union, use peat topsoil mix, water deeply weekly, and spray weekly to prevent pests and diseases.
