Lockheed Crisis Tied to British Actions Says GE Chief
General Electric chairman Fred J. Borch told the Senate Banking Committee that Britain bears responsibility for Lockheed’s financial crisis after Rolls-Royce engine bankruptcy. He urged a US government guarantee of 250 million dollars for Lockheed, arguing British inaction jeopardizes the program and that American engines should be used if feasible. Banks oppose new loans without guarantees, warning of potential losses.
