Billiards Clinic Offered Free To Members At YMCA
A YMCA billiards clinic for students from fourth grade to high school will be free for members and 25 cents for non members. The session runs Tuesday from 10 to 11 30 a m at the Y Teen Center led by Bob Froeshle rules committee chair. It covers techniques games and rules plus a trick shooting demo with registration at the Y through start time.

Burlington woman sentenced for second degree murder
Melanie Staub, 18, of Burlington Iowa was sentenced to 25 years in the Iowa Women's Reformatory at Rockwell City for a second degree murder conviction. She had pleaded guilty in April to the January 19 shooting of Robin Unzicker 25, a YMCA program director, who was shot in the head as she approached her car.

Ambulance subsidy up 12 percent under new two year pact
Washington County Board of Supervisors approved a two year contract with Emergency Services Inc. increasing the county ambulance subsidy to 430,008 per year. The firm will continue to staff and operate the service while the county provides vehicles. Ambulance fees remain 30 dollars for transfers 35 dollars for emergencies with extra mileage and 5 dollars for night calls. The board also enacted its first courthouse personnel policy and approved pay increases averaging six percent for most county employees.

The Comprehensive Employment and Training Act program in Washington requests donations of materials for tutoring and miscellaneous activities.
