Washington County Hospital faces a 1975 76 budget year net loss of 9329 dollars with a Long Term Care unit loss of 27611 dollars. The plan includes 418134 in capital improvements 1975 to 1978 for a physician clinic MOB and window door updates.
A House judiciary panel voted 3 to 1 to end Robert E. Lee’s status as a stateless man, moving a 110 year old request closer to final action. The Senate had approved the pardon and citizenship on April 10, settling the long lost case.
Brussels Prime Minister Leo Tindemans survived a confidence vote amid a divided Parliament after his government decided to buy the U S F16 fighter aircraft for NATO forces.
Funeral services are set for Ray G. Rathmell at 1 30 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Washington. He died from a fall while working on a Winfield house on Wednesday June 11 1975 at age 65. Survivors include his wife three children 11 grandchildren and a sister. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery with memorials to the Christian Church Missions.
Gov. Robert D. Ray criticized the Iowa House for attaching a long truck amendment to a bus width measure and urged the Senate to drop the provision. Backers argued fuel savings and rural economic benefits, while opponents warned a Ray veto could kill the bill.
At a Wednesday meeting the Washington Board of Education tentatively approved a spring trip for the high school vocal department to Colorado and deferred action on adding pluses and minuses to the junior high grading system. The board discussed hiring two high school coaching positions and approved several junior high staff changes while deferring final action to the Curriculum Council for the 12 point grading proposal.
Florence M. Baird, 70, sues Raymond A. Hibler, 53, in District Court for 40000 in damages from a October 13 1973 car pedestrian crash on North Marion Avenue. She claims negligence including failure to yield control and improper speed, says she is permanently disabled and disfigured.
