Hays Awakens From 20 Hour Coma After Sleep Aid Overdose
Congressman Wayne Hays of Ohio, 65, emerged from a 20 hour coma at Barnsville Medical Center after an overdose of Dalmane sleeping pills. Doctor said he was upgraded to satisfactory condition and could say a few words as his wife Pat visited. He was in hospital following a Washington sex scandal inquiry and had just won the Democratic nomination for a 23rd term. The physician noted no evidence of attempted suicide.

Hitchhiker assaulted after ride near Iowa City
Luann Morris, 36, was hitchhiking on Highway 218 near Riverside when a man offering a ride drove to the 218 22 junction and attempted to assault her with a knife.
